Army Benevolent Fund Fundraising Event – Haileybury School

Haileybury School hosted a fundraising event on 26 October in support of ABF – The Army Benevolent Fund, celebrating community spirit, remembrance and service.

An inspiring celebration of history, service, and community spirit took place as James Nicolson brought the stories of World War II to life, sharing moving accounts of courage and sacrifice that continue to resonate today.

The event was attended by the Lord-Lieutenant, representing His Majesty The King, who inspected cadets and presented awards, underscoring the vital role of young people in preserving tradition and honoring the legacy of those who served.

A highlight of the day was the recognition of Garry Murray for his outstanding contributions to the community, reinforcing the enduring theme of service beyond the battlefield.

Marking 81 years of the Army Benevolent Fund and commemorating 80 years since VE and VJ Day, the occasion raised essential funds to support soldiers, veterans, and their families. It also strengthened local ties with the Armed Forces community, ensuring that the values of duty and sacrifice remain at the heart of civic life.
